Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus Review: A 13-Inch Android Tablet with Big-Screen Benefits
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus is a very big Android tablet. At 13.1 inches, it offers a massive screen and a relatively premium experience. The starting price in the UK is £649, but there is also a non-Plus model available for slightly cheaper.
This tablet comes with a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, the S Pen stylus, and a quick start guide. The keyboard cover and regular cover case are not included. With a 13.1-inch screen, this tablet has a large footprint, and the bezels are even on all sides. They’re slightly thick but still slim enough to hold the device in one hand without accidentally touching the display.
It’s very thin, just 6mm, and relatively light for a tablet of this size, weighing around 664 grams. However, it does start to feel a bit heavy when held for long periods. The design looks and feels premium with a metal frame and matte finish on the back. The Galaxy branding and Samsung logo are subtle. It comes in gray, silver, and blue, and has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
The fingerprint scanner is built into the power button. Although it’s quite slim, it works accurately from various angles. The software experience is One UI 5, which is Samsung’s custom interface similar to what’s found on their smartphones. Samsung offers six years of OS updates and security patches, which is quite generous.
One UI has many Samsung apps that duplicate stock Android apps, such as the Galaxy Store and Samsung Notes. The interface can be customized heavily. The notification panel and quick controls are similar to Samsung phones, and users can access various features with just a few taps.
Multitasking is a strong point. Two-finger swipe up or sideways enables split-screen view, and there’s also support for a floating window. Up to three apps can be used side by side, plus a fourth in a floating window.
Samsung’s AI features include options like background and shadow removal in photos. Users can also interact with content on screen by tapping and holding, which offers suggestions like setting wallpapers, making GIFs, or sending files via Quick Share. The browser can read web pages out loud using Samsung’s voice engine.
The S Pen is included and supports core functionality such as capturing screenshots, editing documents, and navigating the interface. However, air gestures are only available with the S Pen Pro, which is sold separately. The included stylus can magnetically attach to the back, but the grip isn’t strong and it can easily fall off.
The LCD panel isn’t AMOLED, but it still looks good. The colors are rich, contrast is decent, and resolution is 2880 x 1800. Viewing angles are solid. Brightness is good enough for outdoor use, but darker scenes in games or videos can be hard to see. An Eye Comfort Shield reduces blue light and works well for night-time use. The refresh rate is 90Hz, which should feel smooth, but sometimes UI animations don’t appear as fluid.
Audio performance is impressive. The dual speakers produce loud and clear sound, suitable for watching videos even in noisy environments.
Internally, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus uses the Exynos 1380 chipset, the same found in the Galaxy A56 5G. The unit reviewed came with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s also a 12GB RAM model with 256GB storage. Storage is expandable up to 2TB with a microSD card.
A 5G version is available with sub-6GHz support. It includes a physical SIM slot and eSIM support. For those who don’t need mobile data, a Wi-Fi-only version is available.
Performance in daily use is reliable. Multitasking works well, and apps open quickly. However, the UI may lag occasionally. In gaming, frame drops were noticeable in titles like Weather and Waves when graphics were set to high. Lowering graphics settings helped maintain smoother performance. Thermal management is excellent; the tablet remained cool even after extended use.
The 12MP front-facing camera is decent. It offers good detail, manages backlight well, and supports 4K video recording. The 13MP rear camera is okay for scanning documents or quick snaps, but due to the tablet’s size, it’s not ideal for regular photography.
Battery life is impressive, thanks to the 10,090mAh battery. In regular use involving web browsing, music streaming, and multitasking, over 12 hours of screen time is achievable. For video streaming, the battery lasts 19–20 hours. High-performance gaming drains the battery faster, offering about 4.5 hours of screen time. It supports 45W fast charging, but due to the battery size, charging takes some time. No charger is included in the box.
Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus is a large-screen Android tablet with a premium design, long-lasting battery, solid performance, and useful features like the S Pen and multitasking tools. While it lacks an AMOLED display and could benefit from a smoother UI experience, it delivers strong overall value for productivity and entertainment. However, other tablets like the OnePlus Pad 2 may offer better specs for the price.
